E sisteun lungo ciclo ? Questa domanda è della massima importanza , non solo nella storia economica , ma nell'interpretazione della situazione attuale . È il rallentamento della produzione e del commercio mondiale negli ultimi dieci anni solo la conseguenza di una serie di contrattempi temporanei, i cui effetti possono essere corrette - o  il mondo è sotto l'influenza di un lungo ciclo , i cui effetti saranno ancora con noi per molti anni nel futuro ? L'autore fornisce analisi , al fine di far luce su queste domande.
