Trasformazioni produttive e teoria economica. (Productive transformations and economic theory)

Abstract

Solo di recente gli  economisti hanno concentrato la loro attenzione sui rivoluzionari cambiamenti tecnologici in corso e sulle trasformazioni associate delle strutture dell'economia. Questo ha portato ad una proliferazione di tentativi teorici che hanno proposto rifondazioni ambiziose della teoria dinamica nelle direzioni più diverse. Il problema con l'analisi economica di oggi, tuttavia, non è rappresentato dai cambiamenti tecnologici - che hanno, naturalmente, sempre preso posto - ma dallo spostamento della messa a fuoco per il processo attraverso cui si realizzano tali cambiamenti. L'autore sostiene che, invece di nuovi strumenti analitici o modelli sofisticati , ciò che è necessario è quello di definire con precisione l'oggetto dell'analisi, mettendo in luce, in particolare, la stretta relazione tra i problemi considerati e il metodo di analisi adottato.

Only recently have economists concentrated their attention on the revolutionary technological changes in progress and on the associated transformations of the structures of the economy. This has resulted in a proliferation of theoretical attempts which have proposed ambitious refoundations of the dynamic theory in the most varied directions. The problem with economic analysis today, however, is represented not by the changes in technology - which have, of course, always taken place - but by the shift of focus to the process through which such changes are realised. The author argues that rather than new analytical tools or sophisticated models, what is required is to define precisely the object of the analysis, bringing to light in particular the strict relation between the problems considered and the method of analysis adopted.
