Finanza, profitti, cambiamento tecnologico e accumulazione di capitale: concetti e schemi interpretativi

Questo articolo analizza in modo critico la letteratura relativa alla finanziarizzazione dell’economia inserendola nel contesto più ampio dello sviluppo storico del capitalismo e dei processi di accumulazione ad esso correlati. Vengono identificati due principali meccanismi alla base dell’espansione della finanza: l’incremento delle transazioni finanziarie, che coinvolgono sempre maggiormente le aziende non finanziarie e famiglie, e l’aumento esponenziale del valore degli asset finanziari. Prendendo spunto dalla letteratura riguardante i cicli sistemici di accumulazione (Arrighi, 1994), l’articolo propone di integrare la prospettiva evolutiva nell’analisi storica del capitalismo al fine di analizzare il rapporto tra capitale finanziario e cambiamento tecnologico nel susseguirsi dei cicli sistemici di accumulazione. Utilizzando questo schema integrato, è possibile analizzare la posizione monopolistica delle imprese digitali odierne in chiave sistemica. Il lavoro fornisce ulteriori evidenze empiriche che testimoniano l’attuale fase di accumulazione finanziaria del capitalismo odierno.
