Tra contante e digitale: competenze, scelte e vincoli nel nuovo ecosistema dei pagamenti

Abstract

La diffusione delle tecnologie digitali sta trasformando il settore dei pagamenti, con cambiamenti accelerati dalla pandemia di COVID-19. Negli ultimi vent’anni, l’infrastruttura europea dei pagamenti ha visto un significativo calo dell’uso del contante e una crescente digitalizzazione delle banche al dettaglio, accompagnata una riduzione degli sportelli bancari, con impatti rilevanti sull’accesso ai servizi finanziari. In tale contesto, le competenze finanziaria e digitai sono cruciali per garantire l’inclusione. Tuttavia, la transizione verso una società “cashless” è disomogenea riflettendo differenze culturali e strutturali che influenzano le scelte individuali e le possibilità di accesso. Ciò impone strategie integrate per rafforzare le competenze e favorire un’adozione consapevole e inclusiva dei pagamenti digitali.
