Abstract

This paper was presented at the Fourth International Seminar on European Economic and Monetary Union, held in Copenhagen in March of 1981. The work points out encouraging signs of improved cooperation between US and European authorities on coordinated interventions which developed in 1980. However, the author sees possible further scope for improvement in the idea of Jacques van Ypersele to set-up dollar/ECU swap arrangements between the European Monetary Cooperation Fund and the Federal Reserve.
