The literature on the functional distribution of income in postwar years is vast, with economists and statisticians attributing great importance to the topic. The author argues that this is because the division of income between capital and labor has a decisive influence on the growth rate of production. In the first section, the distribution of gross product and national income are analysed. Later, the labor income is dealt with. Finally, the average compensation for employees is considered, in and for itself and in relation to other variables in the economic system.
