Piero Sraffa and the reconstruction of political economy

Piero Sraffa is widely regarded as the greatest Italian economist and one of the greatest economists of all time. And yet, some have argued that Sraffa’s work has not penetrated deeply into the consciousness of the economic profession. The present work responds to this view by drawing attention to Sraffa’s contribution to the reconstruction of political economy, and, more generally, to his influence on modern culture. The author demonstrates how Sraffa’s influence has been felt in different fields: not only in economics, but also that of philosophy and politics.
