The “new growth path” in Hungary

The work analyses changes in economic policies in Hungary that began with the December 1978 resolution of the Central Committee of the Hungarian Socialist Workers’ Party. Changes in economic policies had the double objective of remedying the disequilibrium in Hungary’s balance of payments and reestablishing the reform process that began in 1968 but was subverted in various respects after 1972. The new policies have been given the collective name ‘the new growth path’.
