The work identifies certain lessons which can be learned from Schumpeter’s analysis of the cyclical development of the economy and which may help in understanding the novel aspects presently displayed by this fundamental process. In particular, the author indicates which elements can be derived form Schumpeter’s microeconomic analysis and from Keynes’ macroeconomic one to construct an integrated model of the cyclical development of the economy in present-day conditions. He concludes that there is much to be gained by combining elements of Keynesian analysis of effective demand and parts of the Schumpeter analysis of technical progress and growth.
