Significant changes in the Bank of England’s operations over recent years have taken place in the area of supervision of banks and related institutions in the United Kingdom. These developments have led to an intensification of the Bank’s involvement in this field. The present article reviews the changes that have taken place in this respect and the impact that has resulted on the financial community.
