The author reports in detail on the monetary history of Italy from 1935 to 1958. The author distinguishes among four sub-periods: from the building up of the world economy to the armistice (35-43); 2. The period of military occupation (September 1943-April 1945); 3. Early peacetime ebb and the flow of inflation (May 1945-September 1947); and 4. A decade of stability and growth (1948-1958).
