After calling attention to the fact that during the last 50 years Italian agriculture has been unable to absorb the increase of population, the article argues that industry will have to play the leading part in the economic recovery of Italy. Full employment and that substantial increase of industrial exports which are essential for the equilibrium of Italian balance of payments will depend - in the author’s opinion - on carrying out a plan of industrialism.
