Abstract

A nuclear Iran has become an increasingly contentious issue. In the light of Western impotence, many Israelis are calling for a preventive strike against a declared genocidal intention. According to Israeli analysts, without preventive military action production of an Iranian bomb is just a matter of time. Moreover the annihilationist rhetoric used by Iran’s leaders, chiefly by President Ahmadinejad, is not a matter of sloganeering but indeed a programme, in which the destruction of Israel is indispensable for the attainment at Iran’s manifest destiny – the world safe for islam. A quasi-consensus is emerging in Israel on the necessity of bombing Iranian nuclear installations. The scenario is still undefined. RÉSUMÉ - Un Iran nucléaire devient une question de plus en plus actuelle. Étant donné l’inaction de l’Occident, de nombreux Israéliens s’expriment en faveur d’une frappe préventive pour mettre fin aux intentions ouvertement génocidaires de Téhéran. Selon des analystes israéliens, à défaut d’une action préventive, la production d’une bombe iranienne n’est qu’une question de temps. De plus, la rhétorique annihilationniste utilisée par les dirigeants iraniens, principalement le Président Ahmadinejad, ne constitue pas un slogan, mais un programme. La destruction d’Israël serait indispensable pour réaliser l’objectif de l’Iran: l’islamisation du monde. Un quasi-consensus commence à émerger en Israël sur la nécessité de bombarder les installations nucléaires iraniennes. Le scénario reste à définir.
