Call for papers 2025

Slavic minority and regional languages edited by Marco Biasio & Lidia Federica Mazzitelli Although a growing body of research has focused on Slavic minority languages and regional variants over the last decades, they have so far received relatively less attention in linguistic research, particularly in comparison to standardized languages. We invite submissions of papers for a thematic issue of “Ricerche slavistiche” on the topic of “Slavic minority and regional languages”.  We welcome contributions on any topic related to one (or more) Slavic minority languages or regional varieties, also in comparative perspective. While all theoretical frameworks are equally welcome, we request that papers include an introductory section describing the main grammatical and socio-linguistic features of the language(s) they discuss for the benefit of non-specialists. Additionally, theoretical contributions exploring the definition of a minority or regional variety, distinguishing it from a dialectal variety of the majority language, are encouraged. This exploration should cover linguistic and socio-linguistic aspects, as well as, possibly, potential controversial socio-political issues surrounding this matter. Abstracts (no longer than 500 words) can be submitted in Italian or English via e-mail (mabiasio@unimore.it and lidiafederica.mazzitelli@unior.it) by April 1st, 2024. Notification of acceptance will be given by May 1st. Full papers (which should not exceed 50.000 characters, including blank spaces) are expected by November 1st, 2024, and can be written in either Italian or English. Authors who are not native-speakers shall obtain a good linguistic revision before submitting the manuscript. The texts proposed for the monographic section must be written in Italian or English. The editorial staff also invites contributions to other sections of the journal: Studies and Researches, Portraits, Discussions and Reviews. The texts published in these sections can be written in Italian, English or any Slavic language. The proposals for non-monographic sections should be sent to ricerchesalvistiche.seai@uniroma1.it or monika.wozniak@uniroma1.it
