Abstract

Spatiality of forced migrants in Turin: a socio-psychological dimension
The article addresses some aspects of the spatial practices of refugees and asylum seekers in Turin, highlighting the relationship that exists between the ways in which they establish a relationship with urban space and their wellbeing conditions or, conversely, socio-psychological discomfort. After the traumatic journey experience, the arrival corresponds with the loss of socio-spatial references linked to places of origin and the
beginning of a new phase. This is characterized by the emergence of a new spatiality built around social and spatial relations networks centered around the city’s places that offer greater material and symbolic opportunities.
