Abstract

From the Trentino Valleys to Bosnian Hills: The Recent Signs of an Ancient Emigration
At the end of the nineteenth century, when the young Kingdom of Italy
was trying its compactness, all the lands of Trentino were still part of
the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The delicate balance in which the Italian
population lived in the valleys of Trentino was broken by a series of socioeconomic and natural events – the crisis of the Vienna Stock Exchange, tightening of taxation, diseases of mulberry trees and vines – to which be added a catastrophic flood that forced hundreds of families to emigrate.
In this article the migration to the valleys Bosnian lands administered by
the Empire is studied, by identifying the spatial features of the process.
Are also highlighted the recent and past interventions added by the
communities of Trentino origin in the territory in search of the elements
of Italian culture that makes the landscape of the two villages of Stivor
and Mahovljani unique and distinctive.

Des vallées du Trentin jusqu’aux collines bosniaques: les traces récentes d’une immigration ancienne
A' la fin du XIXè siècle, toutes les terres du Trentin faisaient encore partie
de l'Empire austro-hongrois et, en même temps, le jeune royaume d'Italie
était en train de chercher son unité. Toute une série d'évènements socioéconomiques et naturels modifièrent le fragile équilibre des italiens qui vivaient dans les vallées du Trentin (par exemple la crise de la Bourse de Vienne, le serrage des impôt, les maladies des mûriers et des vignes). En plus, un déluge catastrophique obligea à émigrer des centaines de familles. L'Auteur étudie la migration vers les territoires bosniaques administrés par l'Empire, tout en essayant d'identifier les caractéristiques d'un tel procès du point de vue du territoire. On met en évidence les interventions les plus récentes, mais même les plus éloignées, que la communauté d'origine trentine a réalisées dans le territoire à la recherche des éléments de la culture italienne, tout en rendant unique et connotatif le paysage des deux villages de Stivor et Mahovljani.
