Per una geografia dell’emigrazione laziale all’estero

Abstract

The main results from a study carried out by geographers of the
Sapienza University of Rome and financed by the Lazio Region are presented here. The objective was to analyse foreign emigration of citizens
originating - or residing prior to migration- from the Lazio area. The
phenomenon was disarticulated both from a territorial perspective (the
stock and flux leaving from each of the 378 municipalities were studied)
and a temporal one (the years from 1951 to 2006 were considered). The
principal areas of departure and the countries of destination, together
with the structure of the population and the consequences caused by
these departures on the territory were underlined. The relation between
associations and the number of emigrants were brought to light, to give
the regional administration a better instrument to manage the problem
of representation and individual participation in the diverse forms of association.
Furthermore, numerous interviews with people from Lazio abroad, both first and second generation and from different migratory fazes were gathered. The results are published in a volume and a DVD.

Cette contribution présente les principaux résultats d’une recherche entreprise par des géographes de la Sapienza Université de Rome et financée par la Région Latium. L’objectif de ces chercheurs était d’analyser
l’émigration à l’étranger des citoyens originaires - ou résidents – du Latium. Ils ont étudié le phénomène aussi bien d’un point de vue territorial (ils ont étudié les stocks et flux en provenance de 378 communes) que d’un point de vue temporel (ils ont pris en considération la période 1951-2006). Ils ont mis en évidence les principales zones de départ et les pays de destination, la typologie de la population concernée et les conséquences que ces départs ont eues sur le territoire d’origine. Le rapport entre les Associations et le nombre d’émigrants a également été mis en lumière pour offrir à la Région Latium une autre clé de lecture quant à la gestion du problème de la représentation et de la participation individuelle aux diverses formes associatives. Par ailleurs, de nombreuses interviews ont été recueillies auprès des émigrants du Latium à l’étranger de la première comme de la deuxième génération. Les résultats de cette
recherche on été publiés sous forme d’un livre et d’un DVD.
