Abstract

Citizenship, space, boundaries. The nature of modernity 

Overturning the Henri Lefebvre’s scheme, that still enliven a lot the geographic, sociologic and political thought in the Anglo-Saxon Countries, what it is meant here is that the space produces the society, not the vice versa. The reasoning concerns the genealogy of the modern space, of which the originating genesis is retraced, the origin of the centralized territorial Modern State and the meaning of the concept of citizenship.

En retournant le schéma d’Henri Lefebvre, qu’encore anime beaucoup la réflexion géographique, sociologique et politique dans les Pays Anglo-Saxonnes, ce qu’il est ici soutenu est que c’est l’espace à produire la société et pas le contraire. L’argumentation concerne la généalogie de l’espace moderne, dont la genèse originaire est reconstruite, celle de l’État Moderne territorial centralisé et le sens du concept de citoyenneté.
