This article deals with the main similes and metaphors concerning the water found in the Hebrew Bible, namely the water seen as primeval element in the creation narrative, the many metaphors regarding the rain, the drew, the hailstorm. Subsequently, the article focuses on other aspects and uses of the water such as the drinking water, the water seen as a healing element, and the central role of the water in the priestly purity rules.
