ANALISI COMPONENZIALE DELLA TERMINOLOGIA DI PARENTELA: SAGGIO DELLE CAPACITA ESPRESSIVE E CALCOLISTICHE DI UN NUOVO METALINGUAGGIO PARENTALE

Abstract

Fondamentale nello studio della terminologia di parentela è un metalinguaggio adeguato. In questo si è fatto uso del metalinguaggio GEPR (genetico-procreativo), ideato da Alberto M. Cirese e presentato su questa rivista nel 1978. Esso ha la caratteristica di non essere costituito da semplici abbreviazioni tratte dalla nostra lingua e di superare perciò quello che Cirese ha definito «etnocentrismo tecnico››, facendo riferimento alla realtà oggettiva (genetico-procreativa, appunto) che ad ogni cultura
soggiace.
Per mettere alla prova le capacità espressive e calcolistiche del
metalinguaggio in questione, è stata presa in esame la terminologia di parentela dei truk della Micronesia, sulla base dell”analisi componenziale già datane da Ward H. Goodenough. Per questo motivo, l' applicazione del metalinguaggio GEPR alla terminologia parentalè trukese è preceduta da una breve esposizione intorno all' analisi componenziale, con particolare riferimento allo studio di Goodenough sui Truk. Il metalinguaggio GEPR si è dimostrato realmente in grado di parlare di una terminologia di parentela “altra”” e di metterne alla luce i meccanismi logici che ne sono alla base.

Summary

The usage of an adeguate metalanguage is of paramount importance in the study of kinship terminologies. In this essay the GEPR (genetical-procreative) metalanguage is used, designed by A.M. Cirese and illustrated in this review in 1978.
GEPR metalanguage does not rely on the simple abbreviations of ordinary language; for this reason it allows us to eschew what Prof. Cirese calls the «technical ethnocentrality››, and to refer to the objective reality underlying any human culture.
To test the power of this language in terms of logical calculus, the kinship terminology of the Micronesian Trukese has been exanimed.
GEPR metalanguage roves to be reliable enough to accomodate to a “different” kinship teminology, and to reveal its inner mechanism.
