About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The main objective of the journal is  to assemble scholarly contributions on the many different aspects of the geology of the Mediterranean, a greatly complex and still controversial area. A further aim is to highlight the basic and applied research carried out by academic institutions and research centres of the Mediterranean region. Prerogative of the journal is to provide the opportunity to publish long, high-quality articles, and rapidly.

Peer Review Process

Peer review represents an important element of scholarly publication. It  contributes  to qualify the research before being published through the rigorous review by experts in the different research fields of earth sciences.

Publication Frequency

The journal is published yearly, both, online and on paper.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Journal History

The Journal of Mediterranean Earth Sciences (JMES) takes the place, expanding and enlarging areas of interest, of a historical journal of the SAPIENZA Università di Roma:  GEOLOGICA ROMANA.
