The paper is a contribution to a series of recollections and reflections on the professional experiences of distinguished economists which the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro Quarterly Review started in 1979. Brian Reddaway recollects his professional experiences and the significant changes in his career. He starts by recounting his undergraduate training. He tells about the books he wrote, his work at the Bank of England, his teaching career at Clare College and his research work during World War. He also talks about the important positions he held, such as the economic directorship of the Organisation for European Economic Cooperation and the directorship of Cambridge University's Dept. of Applied Economics.
