The work proposes a survey of the empirical factors of the prices of non-oil commodities and the short-term determinants of their performance. In addition, it seeks to examine to what degree sudden changes of direction in the prices of commodities have an informative capacity compared to the historical series, more stable and viscous, which describe the process of inflation experienced by industrialised economies. The author finds new empirical evidence of how, despite the heterogeneity of the specific factors of supply and demand, the prices of goods coming from international markets show common movements in varying macroeconomic conditions. It is revealed that shocks are distributed with uniformity on the structure of the relative prices of raw materials.
