Abstract

The article is part of a special issue on occasion of the publication of the entire scientific correspondence of Vilfredo Pareto with Maffeo Pantaleoni. The author reconstructs the beginning of their correspondence, the debate in pure mathematical economics and draws main conclusions on the different views of Pareto with respect to Marshal, Edgeworth and Fisher.
