From Nuove Edizioni Ivrea to ENI. Ernesto Rossi and Giorgio Fuà

The student and the mentor. These are the roles around which the relationship between Giorgio Fuà and Ernesto Rossi revolves. A relationship born at the dawn of 1943, when Rossi, imprisoned in Ventotene, sent the manuscript Il problema agrario to Nuove Edizioni Ivrea. A young scholar, involved by Adriano Olivetti in his first publishing venture, Fuà read and commented on the essay, not without sparing him critical annotations, mostly appreciated by Rossi. The two took to exchanging letters to which, from the post-war period, they combined an assiduous frequentation, which led, among other things, Fuà to be co-opted by Rossi into the Azienda per il Rilievo e l’Alienazione dei Residuati (ARAR) and later Rossi to ask Fuà – in the meantime having become head of the ENI’s Studies Office – to collaborate with him on his studies on the oil industry.
