Eternal Autumn in the Tenth Eclogue of Arcadio. Text and Contexts

Abstract

This is an interconnected study of the Tenth Eclogue of Arcadia, as it appears at the end of its first draft. It begins by considering the socio-political situation that influenced the progressive draft of the work; it then presents the critical edition of the text, according to its thematic and metrical divisions, each accompanied by a critical-philological apparatus and related commentary. The latter focuses on the various aspects of the document: historical, linguistic, stylistic, and citational, with attention to echoes and quoting of the eclogue in the future.
