Negocios y préstamos usureros en la Edad Media portuguesa (siglos XIII-XV): conflictos y penalizaciones. Una breve panorámica.

Abstract

This text aims to study the usury in the Middle Ages in Portugal, between the 13th-15th centuries, from two key points: the conflicts resulting from the development of this activity, as well as the solutions, penalties and control mechanisms determined by municipal and royal authorities. At the same time, we will present usurious businesses and loans, as well as their different forms of organization. To achieve our purpose, legal, royal, and local documentation will be used, among which the royal diplomas, court documentation and commons and laws.
