Abstract

The purpose of this article is to outline, through the analysis of diplomatic sources and of journalism, a first understanding of the British point of view on Aldo Moro from 1963, when he became for the first time Prime Minister, until his murder by the Red Brigades in 1978. The British interest in seeking Moro’s help to bring the UK into the EEC will be measured and the overall perception of the Christian Democratic statesman’s role and personality will be investigated. In conclusion, a positive evolution of opinions and judgments will be highlighted both in government sources and in the press.
