This study illustrates the physiology of the embryo as it is described in the Conception Letter of Ihwan al-Safa'. The Author compares this text with Hippocratic and Galenic writing, to underline all the points inm which the Ihwan detach themselves from the classical tradition. Here, as elsewhere, the originality of these Authors seems to be connected to the religious and sapiential features of their production.
