Abstract
In the following biographical note of the anatomist Giuseppe Levi I offer a brief personal sketch of his scientific and personal life, counting on the fact that a more general and accurate view of his composite persona will be provided by others in this volume. I then hope my contribution will serve just as a guiding thread. I will start with personal, though indirect, memories of Levi, then focus on his main scientific results and finish with some short, revealing testimonies of his pupils, friends and parents.
