Abstract

The article underlines the influence of the rich and variegated environment of Lecce on the cultural training of the young Giorgio Baglivi, adopted by a clever and humanitarian physician. Analogous importance had the ecclesiastical institutions, offering in an economically stagnating period a continuous high-level cultural diffusion.
