Abstract
The modern hospital was born in France, at the end of the XVIII century. The article analyzes the deabte promoted by the Academie des Sceinces to ascertain what was necessary to rebuilt the hotel Dieu, destroyed by fire. This was the occasion to definitively condemn the medical conception of hospital .
