Abstract

The Hospital has often been a place where converging bureaucracy, badly constructed buildings and medical disattention constituted a fertile ground for a growingly inattentive and dehumanising medicine. In Italy the D.M. 20/9/2000 points the attention on the managing of pain in the hospital. It is a radical renewal of the attitude towards pain, involving professional categories working in the hospital, patients, and healthy population.
