Abstract

The Hippocratic treatises De aere, aquis, locis and De flatibus edited in Greek belong to the text of Janus Cornarius’ first edition published 1529 in Basel. This was republished 1542 in Paris by the printer Jacques Bogard with an anonymous Latin translation of some passages from De aere aquis locis, that successive scholars also attributed to Cornarius. We are now able to identify the text as a simple modern paraphrase of the Arabic-Latin vetus translatio: first printed 1497. But the author of this paraphrase is not Cornarius, and remains unknown.
