Abstract

Aristotelian theories on perception and, specifically, on eyesight with their resulting exegetical tradition unfold a set of problems and crucial points which refer both to physics and philosophy of nature (movement, ontological status of light, definition of the relationship between body and soul), together with aesthetic theories, notably in Late antiquity and Byzantine times (material properties, display of the invisible through the visible).
