Gaudanus , De curandi ratione per venae sectionem, De hirudinibus
Abstract
Theodoricus Gerardus Gaudanus was a Dutch humanist physician, who translated three works of Galen, De simplicium medicamentorum facultatibus, De curandi ratione per venae sectionem and De hirudinibus, revulsione, cucurbitula, incisione et scarificatione. His translations were published in 1529 and 1530, not many years after the Aldine, the first Greek edition of Galen printed in 1525. This article provides an examination of the two minor translations by Gaudanus (De curandi ratione per venae sectionem and De hirudinibus, revulsione, cucurbitula, incisione et scarificatione) and their 16th century editions.
