Abstract

The Official Authority recognized that Ferrara was completely free from malaria on March 8, 1966. The history of the last cen- tury of malaria in Ferrara, drawing on the reports of the doctors involved in the fight against malaria, retraces the three antima- larial strategies that have followed one another, interspersed with the two World Wars. The changes in the ecological context extremely favorable to malaria, present in a large part of the province of Ferrara, leads the historical reconstruction.
