On Veterinary Knowledge and Profession in the Italy of the Nineteenth Century

Abstract

In Italy, the veterinary profession gained a clear identity in the nineteenth century. This study focuses on the processes that trace its evolution from the late eighteenth century through the nineteenth century in our country, without neglecting the vast number debates around schools, its relationship with medicine, and those scholars who helped veterinary medicine grow in this time period, with particular attention placed on the work of Giovanni Battista Grassi in 1911.
