Abstract

Human health and animal welfare are inseparably connected and interdependent. The technologization process of livestock breeding altered the natural balance “man-animal species-environment” putting at risk the planet’s health. Modern animal husbandry introduced industrial methods of production involving progressive disassociation between animal rearing and ecosystem. The outcome is a drastic reduction of native reeds and the impairment of food quality. Should be proposed environmental integration models. The organic farm is a solution consisting in a system based on local and renewable resources. The care-taking practices are essential to the quality of food production. Man is keeper, not master of nature. It’s necessary to take the principle of responsability as a guideline for the protection of environment and future generations. In this perspective the animals acquire the condition of members of biological family, human social partners.
