Abstract

The article deals with the codicological characteristics of the Berlin manuscript of Alexandria, its writing and language, and also with the origin of the unusual recension of the text. The result of this research shows that the manuscript is somewhat more recent than previously thought. Moreover, from a textual point of view, the completely individualised conclusion of the novel, which was previously thought to be a creative work of the copyist, actually constitutes a translation from a non-Slavic tradition that is not attested in Greek texts.
