Abstract

This essay explores Jewish-Christian relations in the Duchy of Parma, Piacenza, and Guastalla in the mid-18th century. The focus is on a case that came to the attention of the Roman Inquisition, involving two Jewish brothers and the Christian women with whom they allegedly had illicit relationships. The case is investigated with particular attention to local, ecclesiastical, and secular archives.
