The communication of natural risk

Today, although the authorities responsible for the risk management have modular and institutionalized plans of communication, communicative practices, during all the stages of risk management, often appear to be fragmented, with no standardized codes and without a correct grammar that makes them coherent. At best, this produces an ineffective risk communication. At worst, a communication that is not able to make use of a consolidated and shared language can induce the receivers of the communication itself to risky practices. For these reasons, one of the crucial aspects for the management of natural risk lies in a proper design and implementation of communication activities. The theoretical models based on communicative practices, and mentioned in the text to follow, not only serve to validate the need for an effective communication but tend to show how the study related to the research on the prevention and management of hydrological risk must necessarily be expanded towards a multidisciplinary approach. For these reasons, it is desirable that communication experts, graphic designers of visual communication are called to interact with government, with the community of experts in order to plan, design and implement communication tools for an effective communication of natural risk.
