Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript should have been neither published previously nor submitted to another journal (in the opposite case, the author is asked to provide a justification in the form of comment).
  • The author should guarantee the originality and ownership of the submitted manuscript.
  • The submitted file should be in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF or WordPerfect format.
  • The text should adhere to the journal’s editorial, stylistic and bibliographic guidelines as provided to the author.

Author Guidelines

Instructions for the collaborators

 

  1. The manuscript should not exceed 40,000 characters including spaces, abstracts, key-words and references.
  2. The manuscript should include an abstract, title and key-words in Italian, English and French. In case of manuscripts submitted in a language other than Italian, the abstract, title and key-words should be four: one in the language of the manuscript, one in Italian, one in English and one in French.
  3. Abstracts should be between 800 and 1,200 characters.
  4. Three to five key-words are required in all languages (see bullet 2 above)
  5. Where relevant, the URL of a reference should be included, together with the date of last access.
  6. Submitted manuscripts can be in one of the following languages: Italian, English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. In case the manuscript is not in the Author’s mother tongue, a proof reading by a native speaker is expected.
  7. Manuscripts should be submitted in their final form including captions and sources for the figures and tables, the latter being placed inside the text at their exact place (and not at the end or as separate files).
  8. Images will be printed in black and white format and published coloured in the online version of the publication. The details regarding the authorization of the use of images should be provided, and the royalties ought to be paid in advance.
  9. Images should be in JPEG or TIFF format (300 dpi). Each image counts as 2,500 characters.
  10. Submissions are subject to evaluation by the Managerial Board and the Scientific Committee.
  11. In the field “Comments to the Editor” please indicate complete affiliation and e-mail addresses of all authors.
  12. All articles express the opinion of the Authors and therefore the latter claim responsibility for the articles.
  13. Manuscripts submitted by institutions, editors, Authors etc. for possible review cannot be returned although reported and will be acquired by the Geography Library of the Department of Literature and Modern Cultures of the Sapienza University of Rome.
  14. Please make sure that your manuscript follows the editorial rules and stylistic guidelines and that it is anonymous (both within the text itself and the file’s details).

The names and e-mail addresses provided to the journal will be exclusively used for reasons strictly related to the management of the journal’s features, and will thus not be available for other uses and/or will not be provided to others.

Authors who publish their articles in the journal accept the following terms and conditions:

  1. Authors preserve their rights on their own works and pass to the journal the right of the manuscript’s first publication, under the Creative Commons licence, which allows third persons to share and use the work on the condition that the authorship and the original publication in this journal are indicated.
  2. Authors are free to adhere to other types of non-exclusive publication licences for the distribution of the published version (e.g. by including it in an institutional archive or using it as a book section), on the condition that the article has been originally published in this journal.
  3. Authors are free to disseminate their works online (e.g. on institutional databases or on their personal websites) before and during the entire submission procedure, given that this can result in a productive dialogue and increase the citations of the published work (see The Effect of Open Access)
