Abstract

Russia as an essential actor for global politics
The end of the bipolar system, with its competitive charge between the two blocs, started a phase of stasis in the global system. Furthermore, the new global system is chaotic because of the lack of a preparatory and consensual work supporting the transition from the earlier regime of international relations. The US-driven North-Atlantic bloc is losing its hegemony and a new ensemble of States looking for a greater role for themselves is appearing on the international scene. If the first level of States is composed by the United States, the Western Europe, Russia, China, Japan, India and Brazil, the second is composed by Egypt, Venezuela, Argentina, Indonesia, Turkey and other more. In this context, Russia has the essential role of “equalizer”,
while waiting for the completion of a multipolar order.
