Abstract

Issues related to the protection, enhancement, and enjoyment of Natura 2000 sites turn out to be of great interest in professional and academic contexts, particularly for quantitative and qualitative research, especially in the field of geography. In some cases, Natura 2000 sites have undergone changes in ownership over time, sometimes seeing private entities among the owners who, in order to protect the ecological aspects of the site, have had to end economic activities, highlighting the need for a new way of using and enjoying these spaces. The paper proposes a methodological approach to ensure the protection and new fruition of such areas by analyzing the provision of cultural ecosystem services using the participatory mapping method. The case study is the private area owned by Stellantis in the protected park and Natura 2000 site "ZSC IT1110079 La Mandria," northwest of Turin, Italy.
