Résumé

Development, society and environment: the geography of Latin American reformism
The article examines the impact of the decision taken by the new reformist Latin American left in the economic-political domain and their effects on both the level of integration with global markets and on the environment. The study focuses on the cases of Brazil, Ecuador and Nicaragua, underlining how policies aiming almost exclusively to economic growth tend to neglect relevant aspects of development, like the sustainable management of resources and the maintain of satisfactory environmental conditions.
