Abstract

L'autore fa risalire le origini della mafia siciliana alla struttura economica e sociale della Sicilia occidentale.Contrapponendo l'area alla parte orientale dell'isola relativamente più sviluppata e meno corrotta, l'autore identifica la transizione specifica dal Feudalismo al Capitalismo come la principale radice storica della mafia.

The author traces back the origins of the Sicilian Mafia in the economic and social structure of Western Sicily. By contrasting the area to the relatively more developed and less corrupted Eastern part of the island, the author identifies the specific transition from Feudalism to Capitalism as the main historical root of the Mafia.
