Abstract

Garegnani has been a very important figure in the Italian and international context, and his scholarly activity was always characterized by a very strong intellectual and civil commitment. In this essay I identify his main lines of research concerning the critique of marginal theory, the revival of the Classical surplus approach and the role of effective demand, his main methodological and theoretical contributions, and the points of convergence as well as of tension with the broadly defined Post-Keynesian school of thought.
