I racconti di cavalleria e l’identità nazionale. Strategie e implicazioni del «rimpatrio» dei paladini (Amadis e Arioste francoes)
Abstract
«Récits de chevalerie» and national identity. Strategies and implications of the «repatriation» of the paladins (Amadis and Arioste francoes)
This paper discusses the limits of the classification chanson de geste vs. roman in relation to the need to recover the «récits de chevalerie» in the study of identity-inspired and nationalist reinterpretations of the subject of chivalry. Attention is also focused on such strategies present in the first French version of the Amadis de Gaula by Herberay des Essart (1540) and in Jean de la Boyssière’s Arioste francoes (1580).
