Strategie dell'identità: pratiche e rappresentazioni della stratificazione sociale a San Marco dei Cavoti

Abstract

The paper discusses the question of social stratification in South Italian village (S. Marco dei Cavoti, in the area of the Sannio). The analysis reads the interrelationship of discourses, representations and practices of stratification in dynamic terms, and tries to understand how social statuses are buit up in the different perspectives and contexts where identities are defined. The multivocal, interactive and contractual nature of social stratification is then put in evidence.
